Waterzones

AT THE STUDY GALLERY

We will host a get-together for local participants on 05 March from 6.00pm to share what we are all doing.  Two newsletters will be put on the web during the project – posted if necessary – the first, week ending 23 February – the second, week ending 15 March. These will include the up-to-date details for submissions, events and performances related to the project.  Of course, the project exhibition will be integral to the opening of the feature exhibition on the 03 April ’08.

We particularly welcome contributions from those with personal family accounts of local and international fishing, boat-building and docking communities – who could include accounts of working traditions, celebratory events or festivals, migration, salvage, refugees and new settlements

We would welcome contact with groups and communities of people that maintain or celebrate long-standing maritime cultures from both indigenous or immigrant communities

If you wish to join in please submit the entry form outlining your ideas.  We will contact you to discuss this before you commit to giving time to the project.

The WaterZones feature exhibition will include work by:
Painter: Day Bowman – Musician: Steve Harris – Filmmaker: Ian Knox

N.B. We have just learned of the tragic death of Steve Harris. The exhibition will be dedicated to his memory.
